Low-key lighting portrait

For this week's class assignment, I had to find two images - one in which the light depicts the emotional tone of the photograph and the other in which the lighting cannot be understood.

Mood Lighting (emotional tone)

An official portrait of the Queen taken by American celebrity photographer Annie Leibovitz to mark the Queen's state visit to the U.S. in 2007. The wide shot taken in March 2007 captures the Queen gazing towards a large open window and shows some of the room's furnishings and a reflection of a chandelier in a mirror. Outside, a dark cloud looms over the green lawns of the Palace gardens.

Stump the Chump (lighting cannot be understood)

Wade Laster, a firefighter from Flagstaff Arizona, walks back to his truck after helping to thin brush along the fire line of the School Fire near Pomeroy, Wash. on the East end of the fire. The blaze consumed 43,000 acres in the Blue Mountains.
